Intruder alarm installations
The photographs below are from recent alarm work — detectors, door and window contacts, sounders and control panels. What they have in common is placement: the difference between a system that works and one that false-alarms is almost always where the devices went, not what they cost.
Motion detector fitted at high level above a stairwell landing, positioned to cover the hallway without catching the stairs directly. 
Intruder alarm control panel with a keyswitch below it, mounted at the entry point of a domestic property. 
Flush door contact fitted to an internal door frame, aligned so the door closes without fouling the magnet. 
Internal sounder fitted in a ceiling corner where it carries through the property. 
Ceiling-level detector covering an open-plan kitchen and living area. 
Contact fitted to a glazed roof light — a common weak point that standard alarm packages leave uncovered. 
Discreet contact on an opening roof light, fitted to the frame rather than the glass. 
Window contact fitted to a sash window, sited to stay out of the sight line from inside the room.
