What actually drives the price
Most of the cost of a security system is not the boxes on the wall. It is the work of getting cable to them and making good afterwards.
How many devices, and where. Four cameras on one elevation is a different job from four cameras on four corners of a building.
Wired or wireless. Wireless avoids cable runs, which in an occupied house or a period property is often the biggest single saving. Wired is usually the better system where the building is empty or being refurbished.
What the building is made of. Solid walls, listed buildings, no loft access and long external runs all add time.
Whether there is anything to work with. If you already have an alarm or an access control system we can often extend or take it over, which is far cheaper than starting again.
Access. Work at height and anything needing a powered platform costs more than a ladder job. We hold an IPAF licence for exactly this.
How we quote
- You call or email and tell us the property, the town and roughly what you want.
- We survey. We look at the building rather than guessing at it.
- You get a scope and a price covering what is being installed and where.
- We install, and set the system up with you before we leave.
- Ten-year workmanship guarantee on the work.

Where we would tell you to spend less
Not every property needs everything. Two well-positioned cameras beat six badly aimed ones, and a repair on a working system beats a replacement. If a smaller job is the right job, that is what we will quote.
Where we would tell you to spend more
Recorder capacity is the usual false economy — a system that overwrites before you have noticed anything is worth very little. So is skimping on camera positioning to save cable, which is how you end up with footage that proves somebody was there but not who.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't you give me a price over the phone?
Because it would be a guess. The same number of cameras costs very different amounts depending on cable routes, what the walls are made of, and where power is. We would rather look and then tell you a real number.
Is it cheaper to repair than replace?
Very often, yes — particularly on door entry and on Texecom, Pyronix, Ajax and Paxton systems. We will tell you when a repair is the better spend, including when it means a smaller job for us.
Do you do wireless to keep costs down?
Sometimes. Wireless avoids cable runs and the making-good afterwards, which in an occupied or period property can be the larger part of the cost. In a new build or an empty unit, wired is often the better system for similar money.
